This study aims to conduct a sample survey of the vocational interest of people with orthopedic impairments in Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhou, based on Holland's theory of vocational interest. The results show the following. The vocational interest patterns can be arranged in the order as follows:Conventional (C)Realistic (R)Investigative (I)Enterprising (E)Social (S)Artistic (A). There is a significant difference in gender between the R-pattern and the I-pattern in that males are more interested in the I-pattern,whereas females show more interest in the R-pattern. Generally speaking,no significant difference arises due to different age groups; however, the A-pattern differs significantly between the age group of 17-29 and that of 30-39,as well as between the age group of 17-29 and that of 40-49,while the S-pattern differs greatly between the age group of 30-39 and that of 50-59. Those with various educational backgrounds show a significant difference in the R-pattern,the I-pattern,the S-pattern,the E-pattern,and the C-pattern. The order of the vocational interest of people with orthopedic impairments does not accord with Holland's circular arrangement hypothesis.
