The ＂fitness to teach＂ policy in Britain was made after the consummation of the laws against discrimination and in the crisis of teacher supply. The policy formulated the criterion for the assessment of ＂fitness to teach,＂ the procedure for those with disabilities to apply for the qualified teacher status,and the responsibilities of teacher training providers and medical advisers. At present,the policy has achieved some results,but is confronted with a large number of problems and challenges.
