On the Style of Tragedy in Countryside-themed Novels of the New Period

20世纪初期"乡土文学"兴起后,悲剧成为此类小说的重要主题。悲剧引起怜悯,但怜悯只是悲剧情感的低级状态。与弱者的消极容忍相比,强蛮人物如土匪、硬汉形象的出现为新时期农村小说增添了新亮点。文章将这些形象设置于与灾难、血腥、暴力、死亡的对抗,展示他们的勇气、胆魄和人格,进而带给人们恐惧和惊愕之美感。事实上,人就是靠了这些精神与力量得以延续和发展。这是文学艺术所需要的,也是人们所欣赏的。

With the rise of ＂literature on rural areas＂ in the early 20th century,tragedy has become a key motif of such novels.While tragedy can arouse compassion,compassion is the elementary state of tragic emotions;for compared with the negative tolerance of the feeble,the emergence of the brute like bandits and of tough guys has added new brilliance to rural novels of the new period.This paper attempts to display the courage,bravery and personality of these figures by placing them in confrontation with misfortune,bloodshed,violence and death so as to present the aesthetic feeling of horror and astonishment.As a matter of fact,it is just because of such a spirit and strength that man can last and develop,which is what is essential for literature and art as well as popular with people.
