Castaways event was an important channel for exchanges between Japan and china during the Edo period. Japan, which was strictly limited in external contacts at that time, knew a lot of intelligence on China by the Japanese castaways that drifted to China or by chatting literarily with the Chinese castaways that drifted to Japan. The intelligence increased the knowledge of "Lock State" Japan's overseas. At the same time, it also had a significant impact on the politics and external relations of Japan.
