联想意义在英汉语言中的比较分析——以颜色词“红”为例

A Comparative Analysis of Associative Meaning in English and Chinese——Taking the color word "red" for example

词语的联想意义在语言交际中应用得相当广泛,它能适当地表达使用者的感情,并从广义上显示出特定语言集团的社会文化特征。不同的语言由于其文化内涵不同,其词汇也显示出与之对应的不同的联想意义。本文从语言与文化的关系出发,从语义学的角度,以颜色词"红"为例,比较分析了联想意义在英汉语言中的异同现象,以期能更好地帮助英语学习者进行跨文化交际。

Associative meaning,which can appropriately express the speaker＇s feelings and broadly show the specific social and cultural characteristics in a certain language community,is widely used in language communication.Because of the different cultural connotations,the lexicons of different languages also display the corresponding difference of associative meanings.From the perspective of semantics,this paper,taking the color word ＂red＂ as an example,starts from a discussion of the relationship between culture and language and makes a comparative study and analysis of the similar and different phenomena existing in associative meanings between English and Chinese to help English learners better conduct the intercultural communication.
