Adore Gods and Its Cultural Implications in Eight Halls of Huize

会泽八大会馆是明清时期各省商人在会泽集资设立的"祀神、合乐、义举、公约"的同乡会馆。八大会馆各有自己不同的神祉,崇拜神祉对会馆的形成和发展起着重要的维系与保障作用。会馆神祉使客居群体在精神和文化上具有了象征符码和集体意义。就本质而言,其文化意蕴具有包容性、功利性和象征性。

The eight Halls at Huize,a kind of clansmen association with special goals as offering sacrifices to gods,playing ceremony music,doing benevolence and setting convention,were established by merchants from different provinces in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.The Gods in these eight different Halls are different from each other and they all play an important role in the formation and development of the Halls.The Gods here are symbolic code and collective sense of the guests from the aspect of spirit and culture.In essence,their cultural implications are inclusive,utilitarian and symbolic.
