山西的面塑主要分为晋南晋北两个派别。晋北的面塑则造型粗犷质朴,着色单纯,充分发挥了面制品发酵蒸制后产生的质感美。采用历史学和社会学的方法对忻州面塑艺术的形成和发展进行了更广泛深入的探讨和研究。

The dough sculpture in Shanxi is divided mainly into Jinnan and Jinbei. The dough sculpture in Jinbei is simple and bold, and its coloring is pure, which takes full advantage of that the dough produced beauty after it has been steamed with fermentation. More deeply discussion and research has been made for the formation and development of Xinzhou dough sculpture by using the approach of historical sociology.
