摘要
跨文化翻译中的两种策略——归化和异化,直译和意译有本质的区别。直译和意译是语言层次的讨论,而归化和异化则将上升至文化层面的讨论。影响归化和异化策略选择有四个因素,即翻译目的、文本类型、译文读者和意识形态。
Firstly, the author brings up two strategies in cross-cultural translation ——domestication and foreignization. Then the difference between domestication/foreignization and literal translation/free translation is pointed out. The focus of literal/ free translation is on the linguistic level. However, only when there is a difference on the cultural level, are domestication and foreignization involved. Lastly, authentic translated versions are given to sum up and demonstrate various factors that affect the choice of domestication and foreignization, including translation purpose, text type, target reader and ideology.
