《戏剧春秋》是抗战时期以理论为主兼及创作的大型戏剧刊物。在刊行的两年中,不仅对抗战戏剧理论进行了广泛而深入的探讨,纠正了抗战剧运中的不良倾向,而且真实记录了当时抗战戏剧的创作成就、发展流变和各地剧运、演剧团体的演出活动实绩,对引导和推动大后方抗战戏剧运动的发展和建立具有中国特色的现代戏剧理论与实践作出了积极的贡献。

Spring and Autumn Drama Journal was a large journal publishing theatrical studies and scripts during the War against Japanese Aggression. It was published for two years, containing within its pages extensive and in-depth discussions of anti-Japanese theatrical theories during the War against Japanese Aggression that set right the unhealthy tendencies, and documenting theatrical creations and developments, as well as anti-Japanese theatrical groups and their performance activities in various areas during the war. The Journal contributed greatly to the anti -Japanese drama movement in the Rear Area during the war, and to the modern theatrical theory and practice with Chinese characteristics.
