Gaoxing:A Quixotic Film

电影《高兴》呈现了与塞万提斯的小说《堂吉诃德》极为相似的叙事模式:都采用了二元对立的人物构架;都进行了一场"冒险"之旅。影片中,刘高兴的"个人奋斗"历程构成了一种类似"美国梦"的"中国梦"形态,深刻地展现了中国当代社会文化价值的转型,这似乎告诉人们:只有靠"个人奋斗"这一滴血才能解除由此而来的"都市陌生者"的魔咒。

The narrative mode of the motion picture, Gaoxing, is very much similar with that of Don Quixote, the novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Both feature dichotomically opposing characters and an adventure. The personal struggles of Liu Gaoxing, the protagonist in the movie, was presented as a path to the ＂Chinese Dream＂ that is similar to the ＂American Dream＂, revealing the profound value transformation in China＇s society and culture. The lesson seems that the only way for ＂strangers in cities＂ to be freed from the enchantment is by ＂personal struggles＂.
