Women's Suicide in Family Conflicts: Research in X Village in Daye City

本文基于对湖北省大冶市X村1980—2000年妇女自杀现象的考察,发现自杀与家庭关系变迁相关,这反映了转型期家庭生活所蕴含的矛盾。文章试图将家庭关系变迁放在村庄社会生活巨变的大背景中进行理解,并考察这种变迁对个体的冲击,揭示妇女自杀与家庭生活变迁中各种矛盾之间的联系,并进一步解释为什么是妇女选择自杀,以及妇女为什么会选择自杀。

This article discusses the relationship between suicides and changes in family relations based on the study of women＇s suicide during 1980-2000 in X village in Daye City,Hubei province.This study reflects the impacts of rising contradictions that affect family life during the transition period.This article attempts to provide an understanding of how changes in the village in the transition period have affected family relationships and how the changes in turn impact changes in individuals.It holds that women＇s suicides were caused by various contradictions given rise to by fierce changes in internal family relationships.It further explains why it is the woman in the family who chose to commit suicide.
