The Stages and Motivation of Semantic Variation

词义变异可分为产生与流通两大阶段,其产生的可能性在于语言符号的任意性与语言系统的开放性,其流通则更多地受制于词义变异的功能和类型以及变异使用者的身份背景等外部因素。

Semantic variation can be divided into two stages：the stage of generation and that of circulation. Semantic variation is possible because of the arbitrariness of linguistic symbols and the openness of the language system,whereas the circulation of the variants is restricted by the functions and types of semantic variation and some external factors such as the user＇s identity.
