为什么航运业很长时间陷于如何减少污染排放的烦恼,而不全面推进燃气发动机的使用呢?
Using LNG as a fuel would kill two birds with one stone by cutting both costs and emissions. Why has the shipping world spent so much time agonising about how to reduce polluting emissions without organising a wholesale move to gasfired engines? Geoff Garfield reported on the various pilot projects going on with the support of classification societies that could turn LNG from a cargo to an engine fuel. As he noted, LNG can kill two birds with one stone (although it can’t quite deal a mortal death to a third bird:carbon) with lower emissions and potential cost savings. It is estimated that at least 20% could be cut off the price of fuel if LNG was used instead of oil. And gas is cheap as chips at present. It might not stay that way but there are good reasons to expect it to remain lower than the oil price.
