"信达切"三原则由已故翻译家、翻译理论家刘重德先生在对严复的信达雅标准扬长避短的基础上提出并经过三次逐渐完善的阐释,在文学翻译理论研究界引起强烈反响。该原则的适用性可在李文俊对《喧哗与骚动》的汉译中找到明证:在内容上,译者字斟句酌加上必要的注释,毫无偏差地忠实于原文,完全地实践了"信"的标准;在表达上,归化和异化,简短地道的口语与庄重冗长的书面语完美融合;在再创原文风格上,紧切原文人物的个性化语言,最佳地切合了原文独特的风格。因此,"信达切"三原则适用于文学翻译。
Based on a critical view of Yan Fu's translating standard "faithfulness,expressiveness and elegancy",the trilogy "faithfulness,expressiveness and closeness" was proposed and gradually perfected on three occasions by the late translator,translation theorist Professor Liu Zhongde.Its feasibility is manifest in Li Wenjun's translation of William Faulkner's masterpiece The Sound and the Fury.In the translation,the maximal faithfulness is achieved by meticulous choice of words aided with proper and adequate notes;the target expressiveness is made possible by skillful integration of oral and written expressions;and the closeness to the original unique style is reached in similarly characteristic languages.
