陈忠实《白鹿原》提出的问题带有根本的性质。它违背马克思主义唯物史观,以赞颂儒家仁义观念为反衬,贬损共产党领导的中国革命,为"告别革命"的谬论做了图解与演义。雷达赞赏其具有"文化底蕴"和"人格魅力",陈晓明赞赏其"标举一种文化价值而试图阐释中国现代性历史",对媒体和读者形成误导。这样的作品不断受到奖励和表彰,是极不正常的文化现象。

Bailuyuan（White Deer Plain）,the novel by Chen Zhongshi mirrors some essential problems.It contradicts Marxist Historical Materialism,derogates the Chinese Revolution led by the Chinese Communist Party while praises the concept of Confucian Virtues.This novel expresses and illustrates the fallacy of ＂farewell to revolution＂theory.Some scholars＇ comments on this novel have misled the mass media and readers.For example,Lei Da praises that Chen Zhongshi,the author of Bailuyuan,has ＂a good accumulation of Chinese culture＂and a ＂charming personality＂.Chen Xiaoming concludes that the novel ＂attempts to interpret the Chinese modern history standing at a high position of Chinese cultural values＂.It is an extremely abnormal cultural phenomenon to grant rewards and recognitions to a novel as Bailuyuan.
