Metaphor and metonymy have long been the focus of linguistic studms. However, the lnteracnon of metaphor and metonymy, as a complicated cognitive mechanism and rhetoric device, has largely been ignored. Interaction between metaphor and metonymy can greatly enhance the aesthetic value of poetic language. This paper explicates the four types of metaphor and metonymy interaction in Tang poetry and further explores the translation strategies for these interactions.
