霍克海默科技伦理观蕴涵双重维度:既批判传统科学理论的对象,又批判其研究方法。而这种理论逻辑又与其批判理论的旨趣密切相关。因为在霍克海默看来,哲学的社会功能就在于批判当下普遍流行的东西,就在于从资产阶级社会交往的表面现象——物与物之间的等价交换中,深入到事物的世界中,揭示其中蕴涵的人与人之间的深层关系,即去发现"非人的事物下面的人的根基",以破除其表面同一形式的神秘性。霍克海默对科学及其危机进行伦理反思,则是其科技伦理观双重维度的理论逻辑进一步深化。

Horkheimer's ethic of science and technology contains a double dimension. It not only criticizes the objects of traditional scientific theories, but also criticizes their research methods. This theoretical logic is closely connected with the purport of critical theory because Horkheimer claims that the social function of philosophy lies in its criticism of contemporary popularity and disclosure of the deep relationship between people, that is, to discover 'human's foundation below non-human objects' and to explode the mystery of the same form on the surface. This disclosure and discovery is gained by penetration of the nature of the objects through the exterior phenomenon of bourgeois social interaction-equivalent exchange between objects. Horkheimer's ethical reflection on science and its crises deepens his ethic of science and technology with a ouble dimension.
