摘要
英语词汇教学是英语教学的重要组成部分。英语词义灵活多变,且一词多义。语境决定词义,运用语境理论进行词汇教学是行之有效的方法。离开语境谈词义,不利于提高学生的语言知识和能力。通过对语境的阐释,论证语境对词汇教学的重要性。
The teaching of English vocabulary plays a very important part in English teaching. The lexical meaning of an English word is very flexible. Often, one word will have different meanings. The lexical meaning of one word is decided by its context; therefore context theory is very helpful to vocabulary teaching. It is not desirable to talk lexical meaning out of context for it will do no good to the improvement of students' language knowledge and ability. After defining what is context, it tries to demonstrate the signifanee of context to vocabulary.
