The origination, working principles, advantages, recent advances in the research and future research directions of CONWIP(CONsta nt Work In Process) production method are introduced. Effective production cont rol systems are those that produce right parts, at the right time, and competiti ve cost. CONWIP production/inventory control system has received a great deal of attention of researcheres after the proposing of MRP- Ⅱ and Kanban. It has become one research focus of production control methods.
