The article summarized the main features,priority development strategies,theory and practice of farming systems in the western semi-arid region of Heilongjiang province.Elaborated the main characteristics of farming systems on geographical distribution,natural climatic conditions,construction and proportion of crop planting in the western semi-arid region Heilongjiang province;Outlining major development strategy of the area＇s farming and the theory and practice of area＇s water-saving irrigation.The objective was to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for researching and developing the farming system in the western semi-arid region Heilongjiang province.
