How Does Industry Influence Income Distribution Results of HLM Analysis

通过使用多层线性模型来分析经由巧妙对接生成的多层结构的数据,详细讨论了行业影响收入分配的两个截然不同的逻辑与路径:一是直接影响不同行业的平均收入,二是结构性地调整不同行业中个人特征(包括性别、年龄、教育等)的收入回报率。结果显示,个人收入的整体差异中,有超过13%的份额是由于行业的不同造成的;而行业特征(如行业规模、行业年龄、行业高学历比例等)对于个人特征的收入回报的影响则呈现出多种显著的方式。我们的结论有助于理清行业影响收入分配的机制与途径,同时也增进了对收入分配制度与结构问题的进一步理解。

Using the hierarchical linear model(HLM)to analyze a specifically linked dataset with a hierarchical structure,this paper discusses in detail two completely different logics and paths by which industry affects income distribution:one is its direct influence on average income in different industries,and the other is the influence of industry structural adjustment on the rate of return to individual attributes(gender,age,education,etc.).Results show that more than thirteen percent of the total difference in individual incomes can be attributed to the industry factor,and that industry characteristics(such as the scale and age of the industry,proportion of employees with high educational qualifications,etc.)exert multiple and significant effects on the income returns to individual attributes.Our conclusions will assist in specifying the mechanisms and paths through which industry influences income distribution.At the same time,the paper also offers further consideration of income distribution institutions and structures.
