Quiet Flows the Don is a grand epic, in which the novelist has revealed aspects of life that had never been touched upon. One’s destiny was truly depicted and his vacillation during the revolution was also exposed. Virgin Soil Upturned is the apotheosis of works whose content and form are highly unified. In The Fate of a Man, Sholokhov achieved a sublimation of the tragic fates of individuals in Russia into tragedy.
