The New Meanings of "Biao X"

在现代汉语中,"飙"由其本义"暴风"引申出一些新义,"飙X"也成为时下流行的构式。"飙"具有下面四种新义:"暴风般的,急速的"、"急速地行动"、"奋力地争取、比拼"、"奋力地展示"。"飙"的新义与本义之间或者具有相关性,或者具有相似性,前者是转喻机制发生作用的结果,后者是隐喻机制发生作用的结果。

In modern Chinese,Biao（飙） has extended some new meanings from its original meaning ＂violent storm ＂,and Biao X has became a popular construction. It has the following new meanings： ＂rapid＂, ＂moving rapidly＂, ＂trying hard to get something＂, and ＂trying hard to show something＂. The new meanings of Biao are related to or similar to its original meaning. The former is the result of metonymy mechanism, and the latter is the result of metaphor mechanism.
