Japanese central government has actively adopted various policies about financial aids to students who are planning to study aboard long or short time. These policies aim at expanding student exchange, promoting understanding and friendship between Japan and other countries, and developing international competitive edge of Japanese higher education. There are many programs for studying aboard, including grants and student loans, long terms or short terms. Rigorous standards have been established to select right candidate students.
