摘要
习语是人类语言的精华,习语在语义上是不可分割的统一体。从隐喻概念、文化结构等角度,分析英语习语意义的来源,揭示出英语习语语义的认知和文化理据,从而帮助读者更准确深刻地理解习语的语义。
Idioms are the essence of human languages and it is generally considered that the meaning of an idiom is a unity.This paper tries to explore the origin of the meanings of English idioms in the perspectives of cultural structure and conceptual metaphor.It reveals that the meanings of idioms are culturally and cognitively motivated,which is helpful to deepen our understanding to English idioms.
