The first in the world coal-based ethylene glycol （EG） project, the commercial demonstration project for manufacture of 200 kt/a EG from brown coal, has been operating since December 2009, while successfully cranking out the qualified product. This project adopts the key technology of using the core catalyst for manufacture EG from syn-gas developed by the Fujian Institute of Material Structure, CAS, and is expected to be further fine-tuned in 2010 to come online in commercial scale.
