The Cerebral Hemisphere Mechanism of Idiom Comprehension

摘要 习语理解的研究对揭示右半球的语言功能具有重要意义。早期研究发现右半球在习语加工中起特殊作用;而近期研究则发现习语加工时左半球占优势,右半球参与意义选择。关于习语理解脑机制的观点包括右半球理论,GSH假设和意义选择观点。由于西方习语自身特点和研究使用的范式,其结论强调意义选择过程,而对意义通达过程揭示较少。今后研究应从习语自身特点出发,探索右半球在引申义通达中的作用。 Studies of idiom comprehension are important to revealing the language functions of the right hemisphere(RH).Early studies found RH played a major role in idiom comprehension.However,recent studies showed the left hemisphere(LH) played a major role,while RH involved meaning selection.The hypotheses of brain mechanism of idiom processing include RH theory,Graded Salience Hypothesis(GSH) and meaning selection view.The features of western idioms and the paradigms use in the research contributed to the mechanism of meaning selection more than the meaning access.Further studies should pay attention to the special features of idioms and revealing the RH role in the figurative meaning access.
