Elaborating Subtleness of “Liver and Kidney Being of Same Origin”

《乙癸同源论》运用《周易》与中医学会通的方法，通过以下三个方面，来阐明“乙癸同源”命题和“肾肝同治”法的内在机制：一、以藏象与卦象、爻象相结合的方法，即以震卦配肝藏，坎卦配肾藏；以两卦之中的阳爻（一）象征龙雷之火，阴爻（－－）象征译海之水，形象地描述了“乙癸同源”的运动规律。二、以后无八卦图中水升火降的模式，来说明肾、肝生理活动的概况。三、指出符合水上火下、水火交和的既济卦卦象，形成“龙归海底”和“雷藏译中”的现象，是制定“肾肝同治”法的关键。

In this paper, the way of thinking and its methods included in the combination of Book of Changes and Chinese medicine are used to expound the mechanism of the proposition of “Liver and Kidney Being of Same Origin” in the Treatise of liver and Kidney Being of Same Origin as well as the establishing principle for the method of “Simultaneous Treatment of Liver and Kidney” in the following three aspects. 1.Make use of the method of combining phenomena of viscera, of Eight Diagrams and of one solid line or two broken lines of the diagram, that is, people not only use the Thunder Liagram (FDA3) to match with the liver, water Diagram (FDA5) to match with the kidney, but also use the solid line (FDB9) ascribed to the Yang to symbolize the thunder fire of the dragon, and two broken lines(FDB9) ascribed to the Yin to symbolize water of the lake and sea, which describe imaginally the law of motion for “Liver and Kidney Being of Same Origin”. 2. Make use of the pattern in which water rises and fire falls listed in the time space combined chart of Eight Diagrams to expound the general situation of the physiological activities of the kidney and the liver. 3. Point out the phenomena of the formed diagram(FDA4) in which the rise of water and fall of fire are in coincidence ,and the inter course of water and fire is in harmony to form the phenomenom of “dragon hiding at the bottom of the sea” It is the key link to establish the method of “simultaneous treatment of liver and kidney”. In addition, the author of this paper holds that the study on the combination of Chinese medicine and Book of Changes and the relevant common methodology may enricn the intension of the theory of visceral phenomena. He emphasizes that the study of the basic science of Chinese medicine may play an important role in the establishment of the treating principle.
