Hence the interplay between linguistic motivation and the cultural lead- in is finally realized in terms of cultural motivation. The use of cultural motivation, particularly the cultural differences understood from the perspective of linguistic motivation, enables college students of non-English majors to obtain the concrete knowledge, construct the metaknowledge in English learning, and eventually succeed in practicing the cross- cultural communication between Chinese and English.
