左宗棠任陕甘总督期间,曾为醴陵一乡绅撰写墓表。这篇墓表载于醴陵一谭姓族谱中,《左宗棠全集》未收,显然是左氏的一篇佚文。它的发现,为确定曾有争议的左宗棠主持渌江书院讲席的时间,提供了可靠的依据,并可据此订正其他史实。

During his term as the governor of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces,Zuo Zongtang once wrote a tomb inscription for a gentry of Liling county.This inscription was recorded in the family book of a Tan family,but not written into the Complete Works of Zuo Zongtang.Obviously it＇s a lost article of him.The discovery this tomb inscription provides the most reliable evidence for confirming the controversial time when Zuo Zongtang hosted the Lujiang Academy.Based on this,many other historical facts can be amended.
