全球个人卫星移动通信将成为二十一世纪竞争最激烈的通信领域。目前该领域的中、低轨道卫星通信系统正在研制建设之中,其中较具代表性的系统有铱系统、全球星系统和ICO系统。它们各具特点,在技术方案、业务特点和服务范围上都有不同,因而各系统的市场定位也有区别。我国疆域辽阔、地形复杂,卫星移动通信将满足日益增长的通信需求。预计到2000年我国卫星移动通信市场的用户数将达到数十万。
GMPCS will become the most intense competitive telecom area in the twenty first century. The low earth orbit (LEO) and medium earth orbit (MEO) systems are under development and construction, including Iridi-um, Globalstar and ICO systems with different technical solutions, service characteristics, and scope of services as well as distinct market positioning. It is estimated that the customer base of satellite mobile communications market in China will reach several hundred thousand by 2000.
