在出土战国文献中,虚词"为"有介词、连词两种用法。介词"为"主要用作施事介词、当事介词、原因介词、目的介词和对象介词。连词"为"主要用作原因连词、假设连词。"为"没有语气词的用法,"何以……为"中的"为"是动词。

In the unearthed literature of the Warring States Period, the function word Wei（为） use as the preposition and the conjunction. The preposition Wei（为） mainly serve as the agent preposition, the concerned preposition, the reason preposition, the goal preposition and the object preposition. The conjunction Wei（为） mainly serve as the reason conjunction and the supposition conjunction. The word Wei（为） do not use as the expression word, and the Wei（为） in the sentence Heyi...Wei（何以……为） use as the verb.
