Connection between Publication Frequency and Journal Impact of Scholarly Periodicals World Wide

应用乌利希期刊指南和SJR均收录的15,697种学术期刊数据,分析了世界范围内学术期刊的出版周期与SJR指标之间的关系以及中国与世界期刊强国的差距。得出:就全世界学术期刊总体状况而言,月刊是目前一种比较合适的出版周期,但在能保证稿源数量、编辑质量和审稿质量等的情况下,可以考虑将出版周期较长的刊物改为出版周期较短的刊物;中国和四大期刊强国在期刊发展水平上有很大差距,在各个方面都需要向强国学习。

Based on the data about 15697 journals recorded by both Ulrichs Periodical Directory and SJR （SCImago journal Rank）, we analyze the connection between publication frequency and SJR value of scholarly periodicals world wide and the gap between the four world major journal publishing countries and China. We find that for the time being, monthly is the most suitable frequency for scholarly journals world wide, that we can change the publication frequency to a higher one if the relevant journals have enough contributions and if the editorial quality won＇t be compromised because of the frequency change, and that compared with world＇s major scholarly journal publication players, China still has a long way to go.
