Objective: The effects of Batroxobin on spatial cognition with left temporal infarction of rats and the expression of PDGFA were investigated. Methods: The spatial cognition ability of rats were monitered by Morris water maze. Then the rats brains were analysed by HE and PDGF immunohistochemistry. Results: Batroxobin reduced the reaction time and distance of this kind of spatial learning test Moreover, the rats of Batroxobin groups used normal strategies more often, and the strategiese changed more fast than that of the damage group.Batroxobin reduced the size of the infarction and downregulated the expression of PDGFA. Conclusion: Batroxobin can improve spatial learning ability of the temporal infarct rats, which at least based on reducing the infarction. The downregulation of the expression of PDGFA probably is related to the neuroprotective mechanism.
