党的十六大以来,以胡锦涛同志为总书记的党中央高度重视新世纪新阶段的统一战线工作,在继承党的三代中央领导集体关于统一战线基本理论和重要思想的基础上,全面阐述了新世纪新阶段统一战线的地位作用、性质特征、目标任务、工作范围、党的领导等重要内容。这些新思想、新观点、新论述,体现了科学发展观的精神实质和内在要求,开辟了马克思主义统一战线理论在中国发展的新阶段,是全面推进新世纪新阶段统一战线工作、进一步巩固和壮大最广泛的爱国统一战线的科学指南。

Since the 16th Congress of the CPC, the Party Central Committee with Mr. HU Jin-tao as its Secretary General has been attaching great importance on the United Front work in the new century and at the new stage. On the basis of carrying out the basic theories and important thoughts on the United Front by the three generations of the collective leadership of CPC, they comprehensively elaborated the position, roles, characteristics, targets, mission, scope of work of and the CPC＇ s leadership on the United Front in the new century and at the new stage. These new thoughts, new views and new statements reflect the essence and inherent requirements of the Scientific Outlook on Development, start a new stage of development of Marxist Theory on United Front in China, and are scientific guidelines to promote the United Front work and further expand the broadest patriotic United Front.
