The classification and inspection of fresh mulberry cocoons constituting the first local standard in Sichuan Province aims at a quick and accurate inspection of silk yielding with instrument test as the major means, supplemented by cocoon shell weight and cocoon whole weight. The paper details the technical problems relating to the standard formulation.
