Interpreting the Three Dialogues in The Crying of Lot 49

后现代主义文学大师托马斯.品钦的小说《拍卖第49批》中通过三重对话关系——女主人公与外部世界的对话、女主人公与自己内心世界的对话、作者与读者的对话,呈现给读者一个人与人无法沟通的世界,表现了现代人在这一混乱喧嚣的世界中内心的苦闷和挣扎,并引领读者对人类认知世界的传统模式进行反思。

Based on Bakhtin＇s Dialogic Principles,this paper attempts to discuss the contemplation of Thomas Pynchon,one of the greatest postmodernists,on the problem of communications of modern people by analyzing and interpreting the three dialogues—the dialogues between the heroine and her surrounding world,within the heroine＇s inner world and between the author and reader—in his novel The Crying of Lot 49.The analysis shows how Pynchon presents the reader a world of ineffective communication,illustrates the affiliation of the modern people in the chaotic world and lets the reader reflect upon the traditional mode of cognition of the world.
