An overview of the planning and design for Shanxi cultural center at south gate plaza in the ancient city of Xi＇ an, this paper has discussed the poetic expression of modern design techniques to the traditional culture from the aspects of the urban tissue, space morphology, the grid axis and ex-internal form, so as to realize the combination of the tradition and the modern, and promotes the cultural artistic atmosphere.
