The colonization of neonatal gut flora and its identification by molecular technology, the biological mechanism of immune regulation by gut flora in infants, and the potential outcome of abnormal colonization of gut bacteria in neonates through Cesarean section as well as formula feeding had been reviewed. The definition of probiotics, physiological significance of probiotics, and the effect of probiotics on trealment and preventive allergic diseases in infants had been introduced.
