摘要
The schematism is one of the most important parts of Kant’s transcendental argument, and perhaps the real core of the transcendental deduction. In this paper,we analyze,in the context of the transcendental deduction, the roles of the imagination and the understanding,as two fundamental cognitive functions,in the schematism. We point out that from the first to the second edition of the transcendental deduction, along with the development of the opinion about the roles of the imagination and the understanding in the constitution of experience, the scheme is considered as product of the action of the understanding on the form of inner sense(time),and that Kant keeps in fact this opinion till the end of his life. But we point out also that this progress in the second edition of the transcendental deduction reveals,in deeper level, the difficulty of the transcendental deduction rather than leads to its solution.
