Philosophical Inquiry after "Being" and "Truth" and Schools of Thought in Linguistics

西方语言学诸流派的思想源自于他们各自对语言之"是"与"真"的形而上哲学追问。我国语言学在世界上之所以尚无自己独树一帜的语言学流派,其中一个深层次原因就是我国语言学界没有关于语言的形而上学反思传统。仅仅认识到哲学对于语言学研究和发展的重要价值是不够的,我们还必须懂得如何就什么是语言的本质、什么是语言学知识这类事关语言本身的"是"与"真"问题进行哲学的追问。

The ideas of various schools of thought in modern western linguistics have their origin in their metaphysical inquiry after ＂being＂ and ＂truth＂ of language.There has been no unique Chinese school of linguistic thought in the world so far,at least in part because Chinese linguists do not have such a metaphysical tradition.It is far from enough for the Chinese linguists to be conscious of the importance of philosophy for linguistics research and development;what they really need is how to make philosophical inquiry after the ＂being＂ and ＂truth＂ of language itself,i.e.,what the essence of language is and what constitutes the true knowledge of language.
