The Compilation Reasons for Shen Deqian's "Qizi-Selected Poems"

《七子诗选》是沈德潜晚年回乡之后,主持紫阳书院期间所选刻,在当时影响极大,"吴中七子"亦因此而声名远扬。该选本与沈氏其他诗选有所不同,它既为本朝人诗选,又为晚辈后进者诗选,更为地域性选集,故而显得更为特别。其编选原因与沈德潜倡导风雅的诗学主张及通过诗选来奖掖后进和举贤荐能的意图有关。

＂Qizi-Selected poems＂ was compiled by Shen Deqian in his advanced age when he managed the Tzeyang Academy in his hometown. And the book has enormous influence at that time, thus the reputation of ＂Wuzhong-Qizi＂. Besides, this anthology is different from Shen Deqian＇s other selected poems, because it not only includes contemporaries, but also the younger generation, therefore, and more regional and special. The present article discusses the compilation reasons of the anthology as well seeks a better understanding all together.
