摘要
语言学家的研究表明,大量阅读有助于提高第二语言能力。笔者以中国地质大学(武汉)的非英语专业学生为对象,调查分析了非英语专业学生课外自主阅读时间、阅读态度、自主性及动机、元认知策略的运用以及阅读中存在的障碍。基于调查结果,提出应提高非英语专业学生课外自主阅读的意识,调动学生课外阅读的积极性和主动性,加强课外阅读的指导和监督,培养其自主学习能力。
Reading is widely perceived as being the most important way in second language acquisition.This paper reports an empirical study on the autonomous out-of-class English reading activities of the non-English majors in a Chinese university.The subjects were second year non-English majors from China University of Geosciences in Wuhan,and the instruments adopted included a questionnaire and interviews.In the study,particular attention was given to: the time students spent in out-of-class English reading,their attitude,autonomy and motivation in reading,the metacognitive strategies they usually adopted,and the obstacles they met while reading.Finally the paper provides some constructive suggestions on guidance and help for students in their autonomous out-of-class reading.
