Objective: To explore the changes in serum level of vitamin C and vitamin E and the relationship between them and micro-vascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods: The concentrations of vitamin C and vitamin E were measured in 60 patients with T2DM and 25 controls by chemicolorimetric methods. Results: The concentrations of vitamin C and vitamin E were higher in T2DM patients than those in controls, the concentrations of vitamin C and vitamin E in T2DM with micro-vascularcomplication were higher than those in T2DM without micro-vascular complications. Conclusion: The interaction of vitamin C and vitamin E may participate in the occurrence and development of T2DM,and correlate to the occurrence and development of diabetic micro-vascular complications.
