Abstract Largely absorbing the FDI from the world, Chinese itself has also invested abroad in a remarkable scale with the major investment in developed countries. But from the view of FDI theory, Chinese as a relatively underdeveloped country, should not have such a large scale of investments. Was the theory defected, or the Chinese investments faulted? To answer the question, the author analyzed the situation of mainland's FDI and paid more attention to the investments in Hongkong from the positive angle. And, he listed several domestic explanations as well as his own analysis on above state, which was not capable of being explained by FDI and MNCs theory. His conclusion is that domestic firm's behaviors don't satisfy the profit maximum hypothesis.
