In this paper, the necessity and possibility of constructing the Metallurgical Information Database are studied. Subjects of the homepage and their contents, operating mechanism, functions of the database, measures of operation, and distribution of the database are discussed. It is pointed out that construction of search strategies and unscrambling and localization of the software are the most difficult work during the construction of the Metallurgical Information Database.
