摘要
有幸结识浙江省绍兴市旅委谢胜先生，他多次热情地诚邀我去感受一下社戏演出的壮观。后来我仔细地看了一遍鲁迅先生的《社戏》，其笔下故乡绍兴的质朴使我强烈震撼，那笔下的故乡社戏更令人向往!
Village Opera,not only presents the peasants' good wishes for peace and harvest but also serves as the main form of cultural entertainment in the countryside.The performance of the Opera has been regarded as a festival by the Shaoxing people.Even today,it is still an old custom for people here to invite theatrical troupe or drama troupe to give urban and rural performances during slack season in farming or in the Spring Festival,at that time all locals will come to watch them,which is as spectacular as ever.A temporary theatrical stage will be put up in front of the playground or ancestral temple of each village when the Opera performances are held during Spring Festival period,which makes it possible for peasants to watch the original classic operas just in front of their doors.The village opera in fact is presented for the Bodhisattva and just offers the civilians a chance to 'share' the performance.As facing the stage squarely,the temple is,so to speak,the ' best position' for watching.It has been the custom for so many years that before the show starts,the villagers,as always,light candles,put chicken,fish and stewed pork with sweet eggs in front of the stage,sticking the yellow paper which reads ' Land Bodhisattva' on its curtain to pray for having the Bodhisattva's blessing next year.
