Literal and liberal translations are the most essential strategies and methods in translation, with their artistic charm adding radiance and beauty to each other. Based on both theory and practice, this paper analyses their characteristics respectively and expounds that literal translation is good at ease and grace, while the aesthetic feeling of liberal translation lies in the recreation of form, artistic conception, image and rhetoric.
