On Xiao Yi-shan's Historical Viewpoints

萧一山承认历史发展的规律性,同时强调人在规律面前的主观能动性;他指出历史发展的速率是"越后越快",而且构成社会的各要素变化速率也不一致。萧一山具有"英雄史观"倾向,但其目的是想敦促"英雄们"更好地担负起社会责任。在历史人物的评价方面,萧一山基本上能够兼言功过,并把顺应时代潮流作为评价的基本依据。

XIAO Yi-Shan held that historical development follows certain laws, and he also emphasized human＇s subjective initiative, pointing out that the later the rate of historical development, the faster and different social elements change at different speeds. XIAO Yi-Shan is inclined to the historical viewpoint of heroes, aming to urge ＂heroes＂ to take social responsibility. In evaluation of historical figures, XIAO Yi-Shan took into account their merits and demerits at the same time. He also took complying to the trend of the times as the basis of his evaluation.
