Both novels of The Fortress Besieged and Bathing concern female intellectuals.There is a vivid picture of female intellectuals,performing differently inside and outside marriage.Some of these female intellectual rely heavily on their marriage;others behave much independently.Whether women should rely on marriage or be independent and gain equal position,they are fully expressed in the two novels.
